Nokstella, Eternal City is one of the most striking subterranean regions in Elden Ring, offering rich lore and valuable upgrade materials. Reaching this hidden realm requires following a specific path through the Lands Between, often connected to major side quests. Traversing the underground pathways rewards adventurous players with powerful items and unique encounters.

Starting the Journey via Ranni's Questline

The primary route to Nokstella begins by advancing Ranni the Witch's questline. After retrieving the Fingerslayer Blade from Nokron, players hand it over to unlock Renna's Rise in the Three Sisters area. At the top of the tower, a waygate teleports you directly to Ainsel River Main.

Upon arrival, players should immediately pick up the Miniature Ranni item near the resting spot. Resting at the nearby Site of Grace allows you to speak with the doll, which advances her narrative. From here, follow the stream through the Uhl Palace Ruins toward the west.

Navigating Ainsel River Main to Nokstella

As you progress through the ruins of Ainsel River Main, you will encounter dangerous enemies like Giant Ants and Silver Tears. Staying near the natural river path provides a clear guide through the underground caverns. Defeating hostile encounters along the way ensures safe travel toward the city entrance.

Continuing along the river leading west eventually reveals the grand architectural structures of Nokstella. The entrance opens up to a Site of Grace, which serves as your main hub for exploring the city. This checkpoint allows players to prepare for the challenging encounters hidden in the streets.

Alternative Entry Through Deeproot Depths

For players who prefer not to complete Ranni's quest early, an alternative path exists through Deeproot Depths. After defeating the Valiant Gargoyles in Nokron or exploring the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, players can rest in a special stone coffin. This action teleports the player directly into the heart of Deeproot Depths.

From Deeproot Depths, heading to the northern cliffs leads to another stone coffin along a waterfall. Resting in this coffin transports you to Ainsel River Main without needing Renna's Rise. This route is ideal for players taking a different narrative progression.

Key Locations and Valuable Items in Nokstella

Once inside Nokstella, exploring the elevated buildings rewards players with powerful talismans and upgrade materials. Searching the upper terraces reveals a chest containing the Moon of Nokstella, a talisman that increases memory slots. Additionally, several Silver Spheres drop Larval Tears upon defeat.

Taking the elevator down near the back of the city leads to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace. Moving through the nearby tunnels leads to an invasion by the Baleful Shadow, rewarding players with the Discarded Palace Key. Exiting this area eventually leads down into the Lake of Rot.
